Mrs. Polansky- e-Mail
Hello! My name is Betty Polansky and this is my 18th year teaching at Sylvester School.
I have my Master’s of Education from Cambridge College as well as a multitude of courses that I have pursued to expand and improve my teaching toolbox in order to provide meaningful experiences for my students. My goal for my students is to make sure that school is purposeful, fun, and engaging. My goal for myself is to strive to achieve this every day, every year for every student. I have never considered teaching my job- it is my way of life.
On a personal note, I live in Marshfield and have 3 grown sons, 1 grandson, and 2 dogs. I really enjoy reading, gardening, and walking the beach with my husband and dogs.
I am so excited to teach AND learn with your students this year. We have so many new things to master and I have created an engaging and challenging curriculum to make a memorable experience for our new classroom community.

Mrs. Gordon- E-mail
Hello! My name is Anne Gordon and this is my 10th year teaching in Hanover. From the time I was a child I always wanted to be an elementary school teacher. After graduating high school, while working full time, I attended Stonehill College and earned my Bachelor’s degree. I then attended Bridgewater State University and earned my Master’s degree in Elementary Education. Finally, I was able to achieve my ultimate goal of becoming an elementary school teacher! I hope to instill in the students I teach to never give up on their dreams. I want them to believe that anything is possible with lots of hard work and determination.
Outside of school, you can find me at the baseball or soccer field, basketball court, or a
gymnastics meet. My children keep my husband and I very busy! When I have some free time, I enjoy reading, crossword puzzles and spending time in my yard. I am an avid Patriots fan and never miss watching a game on TV!
I have lots of fun and challenging activities planned to make sure your last year at Center/Sylvester will be your best! I look forward to an amazing year with the students!

Hello! My name is Ms. Russell. This is my second year teaching fourth grade at the Sylvester School. I was born and raised in Princeton Junction, NJ. I then moved to Massachusetts to go to college at Westfield State University. While I was there I earned my Bachelor's Degree in Elementary Education, a second Bachelor's Degree in General Science, and my Master's Degree in Elementary Education. Before moving to the South Shore, I taught fifth grade in Western Massachusetts. I have a lot of hobbies and interests. In the summer time I love to go to the beach. In the winter, you can find me on a ski mountain. However, my favorite thing to do is to play with my pet bunny, Muffins! I am looking forward to being your teacher this year. This year will be exciting and challenging! I believe that it is important for us to build a community in our classroom where you feel safe, you can trust others, and you feel respected. I am thrilled to begin another year at the Sylvester School. Please click my picture to visit my classroom website!

I am very excited to be returning to fourth grade at Sylvester. I began my teaching career in an inner city teaching program in Philadelphia after attending Villanova University. Upon completion of my M.Ed, I was lucky enough to teach fourth grade at Sylvester until my children came along. In order to stay involved in education while away from the classroom I built a science education business, Beyond School Science. I can't wait to share this passion for hands-on learning with my students. I consider myself a life long learner, always interested in trying something new that intrigues me, not afraid to be a 'risk taker'. I hope to share this throughout our year together as well. I spend my free time with my 3 boys and husband Pete. As a family we love to hike, kayak, garden, cook and go to the beach.I am looking forward to helping my students create a fun and supportive classroom culture where we learn and grow together.
